Zdravo! Visiting Lake Bled in November was an absolute dream! The autumnal colors painting the landscape were simply breathtaking – think vibrant yellows, fiery oranges, deep reds, and even purples and browns. It was like walking through a living postcard.
I recommend strolling around the enchanting lake. It’s a must-do! And if you’re feeling adventurous, definitely hike up to one of the viewpoints (from the list below) for panoramic views of the lake, the iconic Bled Island, and the Bled Castle. It’s an experience you won’t forget.
Ojstrica: Bled’s Hidden Gem
Ojstrica is the spot to be for the most jaw-dropping view of Lake Bled! Even though it’s a bit shorter than the other viewpoints, it packs a serious punch. The hike up takes about 20-30 minutes, and while it’s not super tough, the trail can get muddy and slippery, so wear proper shoes – I learned that the hard way with my slippery boots!
Once you reach the top, you’ll be greeted by a panorama of Lake Bled that’s straight out of a postcard. I timed my visit perfectly for sunset, and it was pure magic! So grab a seat on the bench, soak up the golden hour vibes, and snap some Insta-worthy pics. This is one viewpoint you won’t forget!
- Timing: Allow around 20-30 minutes for the uphill climb.
- Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip, especially if the trail is wet.
- Reward: The incredible, unobstructed views of Lake Bled is worth the effort!
Mala Osojnica: A Challenge Worth the Reward
If you’re feeling adventurous, continue the hike from Ojstrica for about 20 minutes to reach Mala Osojnica. Be warned, this trail is steeper and narrower than Ojstrica, so it’s best for those with good hiking shoes and a steady head for heights.
While the views are still stunning, I personally preferred the wider, more open views from Ojstrica. But if you’re up for a challenge and want to explore a different angle, Mala Osojnica is worth considering.
Tips for conquering Mala Osojnica:
- Timing: Allow an extra 20 minutes for the steeper climb to Mala Osojnica.
- Difficulty: Expect a moderate hike with narrower paths.
- Reward: Enjoy a different perspective of Lake Bled from this higher vantage point.
Velika Osojnica: The Unseen Peak
While the allure of conquering the final peak was strong, the setting sun forced me to postpone my ascent of Velika Osojnica. Luckily, friendly hikers assured me that the views from Ojstrica and Mala Osojnica were superior.
Tips for Velika Osojnica:
- Timing: A short 10-15 minute hike from Mala Osojnica.
- Difficulty: Relatively easy, but paths might be uneven.
- Reward: While offering a different perspective, the view is partially obstructed by trees.
NOTE: All the viewpoints are linked by a single trail so depending on the amount of time that you have, you can decide which viewpoint you would like to hike to, or you can even decide to hike to Mala Osojnica first and then make your way down to Ojstrica.
